The Floral Arts Guild (FLARG)
David Van Sciver - Managing Director
The Floral Arts Guild is an umbrella organization for several groups at HUMC; the Banner Making team, the Altar Guild, the Floral Arts Guild Workshop Team, and various smaller teams such as the Weekly Floral Decorating Group and the Liturgical Arts Presentation Team.
The Guild is self sufficient and raises it own funds through the sale of decorative items, gifts, flowers, and a unique item, Holy Bears. There have been a number of fund raising events at HUMC this year including the May Plant sale, the Fall Mum sale, Open Houses at the Floral Arts Guild Workshop, and sales in Corson Hall.  Many of the sales have included items from the Washington National Cathedral gift shop.
In partnership with the Washington National Cathedral, two top floral arrangers were brought to HUMC for a demonstration of "Floral Arranging in Holy Spaces."
David Van Sciver, who is the elected representative from the Cathedral to the churches in South Jersey, has began his fourth year as Director.

Seasonal Decorating Team
Major Christian Festivals such as Easter and Christmas require a large numbers of members to create, set up and install the decorations, flowers, plants, and decorative art objects used around the interior and exterior of the church.
Fresh Flower Arranging Team
Members learn the art of floral arranging for sacred spaces, creating centerpieces for use in the Sanctuary, Chapel, Narthex and other areas around the church.
Altar Flower Delivery Team
Volunteers are needed to prepare and deliver altar flowers each week to members of HUMC who may be ill or home-bound.
Banners
Members design, create, and care for banners used in processions and to decorate the Sanctuary and Chapel during different seasons of the Christian Year.
Outside Planting Team
Members plant, fertilize, water and weed the annuals around HUMC to beautify the church grounds.
Workshop
Members assist in raising the funds needed for this ministry by staffing our small gift shop and other sales.  We offer a wide array of religious gifts, decorative arts and floral supplies.  All proceeds of to the FLARG Ministry.  Watch for Open House dates and other shopping opportunities.
Flower Memorials and Honoraria
Flower memorial and Honoraria opportunities are available each week for Sanctuary and Chapel Altar flowers.  Additional arrangements can be placed in the Narthex, back entrance, Checkerboard Square and Chapel Hallway.
