The
Floral Arts Guild (FLARG) David Van Sciver - Managing Director
The Floral Arts Guild is an umbrella organization for several groups at
HUMC; the Banner
Making team, the Altar Guild, the Floral Arts Guild Workshop Team, and
various smaller teams such as the Weekly Floral Decorating Group and
the Liturgical Arts Presentation Team.
The Guild is self sufficient and raises it own funds through the sale
of decorative items, gifts, flowers, and a unique item, Holy
Bears. There have been a number of fund raising events at HUMC
this year including the May Plant sale, the Fall Mum sale, Open Houses
at the Floral Arts Guild Workshop, and sales in Corson Hall.
Many of the sales have included items from the Washington National
Cathedral gift shop.
In partnership with the Washington
National Cathedral, two top floral arrangers were brought to HUMC for
a demonstration of "Floral Arranging in Holy Spaces."
David Van Sciver, who is the elected representative from the Cathedral
to the churches in South Jersey, has began his fourth year as
Director.
