About Us

An introduction to Haddonfield United Methodist Church

Welcome!
The Haddonfield United Methodist Church, since its inception in 1829, has grown from a gathering of a few in the then Grove Schoolhouse to a congregation of over 2000 in our fifth and present home at 29 Warwick Road.  These members come from 57 towns in South Jersey and represent about 1150 households. We are a "big church with a small church friendliness."  We sponsor activities for all ages and have dozens of ways of serving from missions, ministries, choirs, small group study, and more.

175 Years!
This year we celebrate more than 175 years of Christian fellowship and worshipping God in the Methodist tradition established by John Wesley over 250 years ago.  We have survived an earthquake and several fires, and yet after each disaster we emerge stronger than before. We look forward
to the next 175 with a commitment to the congregation, community, and world. The year 2006 will see an expansion of our building as well as our ministry.

Our Mission

We believe the Holy Bible to be the word of God, and our mission is to help the advancement of God's Kingdom.  To that end we actively support many mission efforts in this community, county, state, nation, and around the world. We also believe in Faith at work; as you look through this website you will see the many ways there are to serve God at HUMC.

Our very well developed Christian Education department offers classes and programs for the youngest child to the most senior citizen.
Our Music Ministry is second to none, offering more than five adult and several children's and youth choirs.  The New Jersey School for Performing Arts makes it home here as well. We support many missions such as Children with Aids, United Methodist Homes, Volunteers in Mission, just to name a few.

We are a WORSHIP + 3 congregation where we encourage and expect every member to participate in worship and additionally be involved in one study/small group experience, (to nurture their spiritual life), one mission or social concern ministry, (to nurture another person), and financially support the work of HUMC in ministry and mission.
If you decide to visit us some Sunday, please introduce yourself to one of the Pastor's, you'll be glad you came!
